Product direction

One assistant, closer to the work that keeps your business moving.

Nilo is growing from a Cloud-based Business Assistant into a system that can also work with the files, software and computing capacity inside the business. The goal is practical: less copying between tools, more useful context and more choice over where work is done.

What businesses should gain

A more useful way to bring everyday work together

Each step brings people, information and action into a more direct and useful flow.

01

Work with what already exists

Bring local documents, shared folders and spreadsheets into the work without first rebuilding everything in a new system.

02

Keep suitable work nearby

Handle more routine work inside the business when information is sensitive or an outside service is unnecessary.

03

Connect existing systems

Let Nilo connect with the software and equipment the business already depends on instead of forcing immediate replacement.

04

Use the Cloud deliberately

Call on specialist AI, public communication and managed services when they add clear value to the task.

One place to work

Nilo Desktop becomes the place where people work with Nilo.

The everyday workspace

Desktop replaces the browser-based Nilo web app as the main experience. It brings conversations and projects together with local documents and spreadsheets that a web app cannot reach in the same practical way. Because real work also crosses other applications and websites, Desktop can help carry out repetitive steps there and reduce copying, clicking and switching between systems.

The Nilo Appliance

The Nilo Appliance packages Nilo's local services into a dedicated system connected to the business network. Depending on the size and needs of the organization, it can run on a compact high-performance computer or a server. It hosts local AI, business mailboxes and the local tools that connect Nilo with existing systems as one dedicated Nilo system.

Nilo Cloud services

The Appliance stays connected to Nilo Cloud for services delivered through the internet. Nilo Cloud provides managed capabilities such as specialist AI, account coordination, public communication and other online services.

The product path

From the current Cloud product to Nilo Desktop and a local Nilo Appliance

  1. Current stepping stone

Nilo Cloud carries the product today

The current product runs through Nilo Cloud and establishes the Business Assistant, service and credit model.

    • Conversations and practical business services in the current web application
    • Hosted AI and internet-facing services supplied through Nilo Cloud
    • A credit balance used to pay for Nilo services
  2. Main experience

Nilo Desktop replaces the web application

Desktop becomes the place where people work with Nilo while continuing to use the same Nilo services behind it.

    • Local workspaces and direct work with local documents
    • Desktop and browser automation for work across applications and websites
    • A choice between Nilo Cloud and Nilo on the local business network
  3. Local services

The Appliance packages the local Nilo system

The Appliance brings Nilo's local models, tools and services together on a dedicated computer or server.

    • Local AI models and tools from existing systems available to Nilo conversations and agents
    • Business mailboxes and other services hosted locally
    • A dedicated computer or server running Nilo's local services while staying connected to the Cloud

Working with existing systems

Nilo can use tools already available inside the business.

Many business systems already provide a way for software to retrieve information or carry out defined actions. Nilo can make selected capabilities available as part of the assistant.

  1. A local tool connects Nilo with an existing system or device.
  2. Nilo can use that tool as part of a conversation when it helps complete the work.
  3. The same tool can be available to Nilo agents carrying out assigned work on their own.
  4. Local AI and Nilo Cloud services can use those tools according to the needs of the task.

This expands what Nilo can do while Nilo Desktop remains the place where people work.

Why local AI matters

Keep more business information private and spend less on hosted AI.

Most business tasks do not require the largest AI model available. Organizing messages, extracting information from documents and spreadsheets, preparing drafts, comparing records and using business tools can often be handled by smaller models.

Running suitable work on the Appliance means less business information needs to be sent to hosted AI. It also lets the business use its own computing capacity instead of paying for the same kind of hosted processing again and again.

We expect open models to become more capable and efficient while affordable hardware becomes more powerful. This should let an installed Nilo Appliance take on more work over time, sometimes through software updates alone. Cloud services will remain important for tasks that need greater capacity or specialist capabilities.

Privacy and cost

The Appliance can keep more information private and reduce spending on hosted AI

Credits are money. When suitable AI work runs on the Appliance using the business's own capacity, more information stays local and less of the Nilo credit balance is spent on hosted AI.

What moves to the Appliance

  • Regular AI work uses the business's own computing capacity
  • More business information remains on the local system
  • Fewer credits are spent on Nilo-hosted AI

Where Nilo Cloud still adds value

  • Specialist AI when a task needs more
  • Online and managed services supplied by Nilo
  • Additional capacity without buying more local hardware

The Appliance has its own purchase and operating costs. In return, it can reduce recurring spending on hosted AI while keeping more business information private.

The destination

The same Nilo, with a broader place in the business.

Nilo is moving gradually from a Cloud-centered assistant with local extensions toward a Nilo Appliance supported by Nilo Cloud. People should be able to keep working through the same familiar Desktop application while the business's own Appliance handles a growing share of AI processing and local services.
